Advantages

  • • The amount of tooth preparation involved is very very conservative and minimal. The veneers can be made as thin as 0.3 mm.
  • • PLV’s are see-through just like your original teeth and have the innate feature to mirror, refract, scatter and take up light similar to your natural tooth. This imparts augmented vivacity and luminosity to your million dollar smile.
  • • The PLV has a highly stain resistant and glazed surface which discourages any accumulation of plaque on the teeth . Your gums stay healthy because of this.
  • • They do not change colour nor stain.

  • Porcelain veneers can give change your look in a week’s time instead of braces which need to be in place for approximately 2 years. Braces also do not deal with problems having to do with size, shape and color of the teeth. Veneers allow Dr. Anshu to restore the shape and size of teeth to their normal dimensions.

Veneers or Whitening?

Teeth Whitening may provide a white smile for slightly discolored teeth. Some people who are fascinated in veneers will find that their cosmetic dentist will maneuver them to the simpler alternative of whitening. The placement of dental veneers requires the preparation of all the teeth being fitted with the custom-made shells. This process everlastingly change the shape and size of the teeth that are treated and is therefore not suggested if your natural teeth are functionally and esthetically satisfactory.

A Restorative Benefit to Veneers

In addition to making you look good and boost up your self confidence, dental veneers can also serve a useful function by protecting the surface of a damaged tooth. In some cases, veneers may substitute the call for a dental crown, thus not requiring the need for more insidious tooth preparation.

Necessary care must be taken so as not to mistreat veneers because the thin porcelain shells can damage or split. Your dentist may advise you not to eat hard nuts, carrots, open coke or beer bottles and suggest to you wear a shielding appliance while your sleep, especially if you clench your teeth while sleeping.

Recovery Expectations

The gums may have some slight soreness for a couple days after the process. Some people may feel that their teeth are sensitive for a few days after the procedure. This sensitivity fades on its own a few days after the procedure. So not to worry about this.

What It's Used For?

There are two most common types of stains – intrinsic stains and extrinsic stains. Extrinsic stains are the ones that are outside the tooth structure . The most common causes for this is aging, tobacco, tea and coffee. Intrinsic stains are the ones that are inside the tooth structure. Intrinsic stains can be a result of exposure to too much fluoride as a child when the teeth are still in their being developed and mineralized. Other reasons can be because of the use of certain antibiotics by the mother such as tetracyclines during the second trimester of pregnancy. Tooth whitening is very effectual on surface stains because of ageing, and staining because of certain foods such as containing turmeric.

Treatments usually take about 60 minutes and can lighten the teeth up to eight shades.

Procedure and results

TREATMENT OF DENTAL FLUOROSIS

Dental fluorosis is caused by the excessive intake of fluoride in any form in a quantity that is not recommended.
It can cause chalky white discoloration of teeth surfaces or enamel and may even cause white lines on the tooth surfaces. As the severity progresses, it can result in yellowish to brown discoloration of teeth. Sometimes it may develop rough pits on the tooth surface.
Fluorosis is mainly a cosmetic issue and not dental. It causes severe discoloration of teeth though it doesn not cause any pain.
Dental fluorosis can happen only at the time of calcification or developmental stages of the teeth while the toot structure is still not completely mineralized. Fluoride gets impregnated into the internal tooth structure and cause damage to enamel forming cells. Fluoride causes dental fluorosis by damaging the cells that form the enamel, called ameloblasts.

How can you prevent fluorosis?

  • 1.Infant formulas should mixed with fluoride free wateror water with optimal concentration of fluride.
  • 2.Fluoridated toothpastes should not be used in children younger than two years of age.
  • 3.Only a very minimal pea sized amount of toothpaste should be placed on the brush.
  • 4.Upto six years of age, the children should always be supervised by the parents.

The treatment of fluorosis is aimed at removing tooth discoloration.
Mild cases can be treated with enamel microabrasion or teeth bleaching or whitening procedures.
In severe cases, the teeth may need to be covered with bonding or porcelain veneers of crowns.
